Meet Perry Philips,
Owner & Founder
Perry Phillips here—I’m the founder and lead technician of Yellow Dog Lawncare Services. My career began in maintenance at a local, non-profit summer camp & conference center. After several years, I was unfortunately laid off during the COVID-19 pandemic. What originally felt like a devastating loss, quickly turned into a blessing by leading me to find my true passion, entrepreneurship.
Suddenly, I had a huge amount of free time on my hands. During this period, I turned to my close friend for guidance, and he suggested I look into lawncare & landscaping services. That led me to making a quick post on Craigslist, and 20 minutes later, I was booking my first job! Afterwards, I invested in a few key pieces of equipment, and while they weren’t the best, they got the job done. Now, with top-of-the-line equipment and sharpened skills, I’ve mastered the art of lawncare and landscaping while running my own business.
We’re the Definition of a Family Business
Not only did I want to build a business I was proud of, but one I could pass down to my children. In the beginning, I joined forces with my two children to embark on the adventure of starting a business. From choosing the company name and services, to the flowers we carry and the company colors—every decision was made as a family.
Now-a-days, my children are fully involved and assist me with jobs. My son is great with the mower and weed eater, precision and accuracy are his specialties. As for my daughter, she is a wizard at trimming bushes and works absolute magic on any flower bed she touches. On top of getting to brag about them, my favorite part of working with my children is having the chance to build memories that will last for the rest of our lives.

Meet Bentley C. Woodford or as he’s know by his nickname “Eugene”. Our former mascot Sadie the Yellow lab decided that early mornings were not for her so she decided early retirement was the way to go, so she passed the reigns to Bentley. You can see him on our TikTok & Instagram reels, he will visit a job site from time to time just to make sure our work receives his paw of approval.
